The Me and My Mates vs the Zombie Apocalypse trailer is well done and I will definitely be putting this movie on my watch list. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to watch it, though, as I live in Japan. It has already been released in Australia. You can even get it on DVD or stream it on Vimeo ($9 to rent, $18 to buy) if you live in Australia or New Zealand.
It’s a zombie comedy movie clearly and it looks pretty good. The effects look a little cheap but I think that’s probably intentional. If it looked too realistic it probably would put some people off watching it and it wouldn’t be as funny. I hope that’s the case anyway.
‘Me and My Mates vs the Zombie Apocalypse’ is an Australian Zombie Comedy, the first official oz-zom-com: an outrageous comedy about friendship, loyalty, beer and zombies.
The zombie apocalypse has just hit blue collar Australia. Darryl (Alex Williamson), a mid-twenties telecom tradesman and larrikin Aussie bloke, gets trapped in a telephone exchange with several of his co-workers. Darryl finds himself stuck in the middle of a situation that only has two outcomes: life and death, both of which come with an ever present lack of beer.
