Pandemic is set in a post-apocalyptic world where it looks very much like the zombies are winning. This is a fairly common theme in zombie movies but what makes this movie different is that it is filmed from a first-person perspective. What you see is what your character would see. If you have played first-person shooters like Doom, Quake, Call of Duty, or Half-Life, then you will immediately understand what the movie is going to look like. Of course, the graphics will be much better while the interaction will be non-existent. In the Pandemic trailer, you can see that they don’t shy away from their video game inspiration. Gunner, played by Mekhi Phifer says to the camera:
Just try to think of it as a game. It will help.
While he is talking to the actor whose point of view we are taking, I think that this might also be advice for the audience. The few glimpses we get of the zombies tell me that they are strong and fast. The first person point of view might actually make it a scary movie but I think I want to watch it in VR.
Pandemic is set in the near future, where a virus of epic proportions has overtaken the planet. There are more infected than uninfected, and humanity is losing its grip on survival. Its only hope is finding a cure and keeping the infected contained. Lauren (Rachel Nichols) is a doctor, who, after the fall of New York, comes to Los Angeles to lead a team to hunt for and rescue uninfected survivors.
