Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is, of course, the sequel to Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. Was that too obvious? I haven’t even played the original Plans vs. Zombies game. I was worried that it would be addictive and I don’t really have time to play games that can go on indefinitely. I don’t really have time to play games at all, actually.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is scheduled to launches on February 23rd on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. There are no plans to release it on older consoles. This is not like the Plants vs. Zombies game that you played on your smartphone. Just take a look at the video above to see the gameplay. It’s a third-person shooter similar to the first Garden Warfare game but with 6 new plant and zombie classes, a zombie version of Garden Ops, titled Graveyard Ops, and a new mode called Herbal Assault mode added.
It supports up to 24 players but unlike the first game, the game will not require an Internet connection to play and every mode in the game can be played solo. Online, the game will support split-screen multiplayer, with twelve maps and forty different characters.
A free multiplayer beta launched on January 15th and is available to play until January 18th. Along with being able to access a couple of online modes, players can also try out Backyard Battleground a hub world that is free for players to explore and join King of the Hill-style matches against artificial intelligence controlled opponents.
